Day 12 Mechernich-Meeting of Countries

The weather is warm with high cloud and me and Peter head out early for our first ride on the right hand side of the road. covered about 30klm and managed to negotiate the roundabouts okay. Arrived back for breakfast at the hotel and Mrs Schimtz serves us a beautiful cooked breakfast at 8.00am. Mrs Schmitz asks if I would like cereal, yes please out comes a generous serving of cereal, pour in the milk, start eating then she brings out two smaller bowls. Oh! oh! did you want cereal Peter?

Next we visit a window into German life through a series of village life spanning 500 years. They are actual period buildings from many regions within Germany and reassembled in village settings, in a forest and rural landscape. You meander through 3klm of German life with people dressed in period costume, baking, working, teaching children etc. and are able to buy freshly grown or produced merchandise.

Accompany Erik as he visits his local communities. We also visit a unique boundary where the borders of Netherlands, Belgium and Germany meet. Erlik says welcome to Holland , welcome to Belgium , welcome to Germany as we walk in a circle. Vaalserberg is also The Netherlands highest point. 322.5 mtrs. With me and Peter standing at the mark it tops out at 323 mtrs. What at a great day.
